Licenses and DistributionΒΆ

The license gui application dynamically shows the modules installed with Pydro and their associated licenses. At the top of the listing is the NOAA License (public domain) (public domain), HydrOffice‘s license maintained by Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping at University of New Hampshire and a Caris license. Otherwise licenses are generally alphabetical.

The Caris supplied code and binaries (at the time of this writing, confirm in the license app) are the only modules with significantly restricted redistribution. Other modules and code are under some sort of open source such as GPL v2, GPL v3, LGPL, MIT, BSD etc.

Due to the Caris restriction, Pydro in it’s entirety can be freely downloaded but not repackaged or redistributed. Individual pieces can be removed, modified and redistributed in accordance with their individual licenses.

Licenses shown in the license viewer app can generally be found in their site package directory or under the <install directory>/NOAA/site-packages/licenses directory.
