NCEI Checkout

NCEI Checkout Tool is a procedural program which allows users to validate the required naming conventions and the bottom sample ascii files in a NCEI submission directory. The Java VM is required to run this tool to check the bottom sample content. At the end of a successful processing run, the results will be displayed in the summary tab of the program. The naming convention errors will be displayed in red color, and the bottom sample formatting errors will be displayed in blue color.

NOS Product Posting Requirements:

(1) Zip file naming conventions:
All new product submissions should be submitted in .zip format with an accompanying checksum file, using the following naming convention:
DateHourSec_nosproducts_public.zip
DateHourSec_nosproducts_public.MD5
DateHourMinSec_nosproducts_sensitive.zip
DateHourMinSec_nosproducts_sensitive.MD5
*Note: In lieu of the date stamp ((DateHourMinSec) any unique identifier consisting of numbers and letters can be used prior to the first underscore in the name(e.g. if you care to use survey numbers instead of the date stamp, or a series of survey numbers Hxxxxx-Hxxxxxx that is also acceptable. Use dashes to separate survey numbers. NO SPECIAL CHARACTERS OR SPACES IN THE NAMES)

(2) Individual file naming conventions:
NCEI product ingest program will only handle products with the following naming conventions. The script is highly sensitive to proper naming conventions and is case sensitive, as these names indicate type of products and where the files should be sent on-line:

NO SPECIAL CHARACTERS OR SPACES IN THE NAMES. These naming conventions are more standardized than some of the conventions used in the past. Whenever new products come in, NGDC and HSD will agree upon the new naming conventions and the scripts will be updated to handle these products.
